Graduate Life

When I started grad-school I was eager and bright,
Couldn’t wait to get to my reading,
But, I’m telling you now - it’s not what you think,
In fact, what you see is misleading.
Academics was fun, learning lots of new things,
But my social life went for a toss,
From classes to lab, and library to home
The sole person I met was my prof.
But soon I discovered, a magical cure,
(To the gap that had formed in my heart),
It’s enormous potential was one I had missed,
Though it lay before me, from the start
But now we’re together, all day and all night,
Every need that I have it has met,
Of movies, and music, and social-networking
The thanks go to my Internet.
The unfortunate thing is, I’m always connected,
One hundred percent of the time,
I have deadlines to meet, many projects to do,
Instead, I am writing this rhyme!
