CRUNCH is not just about building new technology. Positioned at Annenberg School for Communications & Journalism, we're interested in design projects that envision new approaches and innovative ways for society to participate in the following four categories:

  • Future of eBooks

  • 3D Transmedia Storytelling

  • Interactive TV

  • New Tools

We’re looking for out-of-the-box thinkers ready to CRUNCH and collaborate with one another to change the world.

What’s at stake? Change? The future of the world? Oh, yeah, and $25,000 in prize money to be distributed among the finalists.

Also, all students who actively participate in a design project within any of the 4 categories of the CRUNCH design challenge will have the opportunity to apply for a summer internship with AIL Sponsors and Annenberg Innovation Lab will support the request with a recommendation.
Sponsors Include:

  • Apple

  • IBM

  • Verizon

  • Mattel

  • Levi’s

This is the third in a series of interactive workshops designed to mentor design teams and ready them to submit their prototypes to the CRUNCH Design Challenge for the March 25th deadline. Whether you are already part of an established team or are looking to form or join one, come learn techniques for project development, prototyping and collaborative designing with co-leaders professor Anne Balsamo and Annenberg Innovation Lab creative director Erin Reilly.

This workshop will describe a design framework based on cultural theory that includes steps for identifying project objectives. Participants will start design journals about the aims of their projects.

OBJECTIVE: Clarify cultural objectives of each project.

Activity: Make a Design Journal!
