Alumni Networking Nights for 2010/2011:

We will explore interest in the idea of a panel or informal discussions with LGBTQ alums, so that some of our graduate students have a better idea of what to expect once they graduate from USC. This could also serve as an opportunity to network for those seeking LGBTQ friendly workplaces. Pending evaluations interests

Film and Panel Series (Potential):

The committee is currently exploring or pursuing the rights to air documentaries on various topics in the LGBTQIA community on campus, with a post viewing discussion on the issues.

Documentary: XXY. Documentary on Intersex directed by Lucia Puenzo. To be shown on the Health Sciences Campus, Date and Time TBD by committee.

 

Documentary: For this is My Blood. Documentary on blood donation policy in Belgium, where men who have had sex with other men cannot donate blood, which parallels the policy found in the United States. In addition to a brief

discussion after the committee, the committee will also look into the an idea which has been employed at peer institutions: having a blood donation event where someone who can donate     blood donates it on behalf of someone who

cannot.

 

Advocacy Issues

HIV Testing in the Health Center: Contact the LGBTA Committee Chair for more information.

Information Outreach on new Health Care Insurance policies as they apply to Transgendered Students (To be updated soon).
